Some students will end up spending hundreds of dollars on graduation, while others will wait until the last minute and scrounge together $20 for the basic cap and gown and copy homemade announcements.

A zealous graduate could spend $358.85 - $20 for the cap, gown and tassel, $4 for the souvenir tassel, $232.50 for 150 announcements, $2.95 for the UA alumnus license plate, $16.95 for the graduate statue, $9.95 for the set of three UA graduate golf balls, $12.50 for the class of '96 T-shirt and $60 for graduation pictures.

Melisa Celaya, chemistry senior, said she spent about $70 on announcements and a cap and gown, but that the party is going to cost considerably more.

Sue Buckley, a Josten's sales representative, has been busy selling graduation items in the UofA Associated Students Bookstore.

Buckley said she expects to see students all the way up to the morning of graduation.

Fast Copy, located in the Student Union, offers announcement packages ranging from $26 for 24 announcements and thank-you cards to $83 for 60 announcements, thank-you cards and invitations.

Invitation inserts are not included and start out at $5 for 24.

An employee at Fast Copy said the standard turn-around time is four working days, but during this time the store tries to accommodate students who may have procrastinated.

He said last month was busier because students excited about graduating ordered early. He said last month, the store took more than 25 orders a day, but that dwindled to about 10 orders per day by the middle of last week.
