The 1996-1997 ASUA Inauguration ceremonies were held May 1 in front of the Old Main Fountain at 5 p.m.The Associated Students' newly elected officials are:
- Rhonda Wilson, president, accounting and finance junior
- Mindy McCollum, vice-president of programs and services, political science and communications sophomore
- Erin Russell, vice-Pre sident of clubs and organizations, chemistry junior
- Gilbert Davidson, undergraduate senator, public management junior
- Ryan Anderson, undergraduate senator, political science junior
- Casey Cuny, undergraduate senator, marketing and communicat ions sophomore
- Maile Weigele, undergraduate senator, exercise and sport sciences junior
- Lauren Sliger, undergraduate senator, molecular and cellular biology and economics junior
- Kim Montanaro, undergraduate senator, political science and hi story sophomore
- David Kramer, undergraduate senator, management and information systems sophomore
- J.J. Rico, undergraduate senator, political science and media arts sophomore
Davidson, a second-year senator, said he hopes this year will be extremely successful for undergraduate Senate. He said for the first time the Senate will be split up into committees which he says will enable new ideas to come about. Each senator is assigned to a committee.
- Sliger and Kramer will head the Programmatic-Budget Oversight Committee. They will work with the ASUA treasurer to oversee expenditures.
- Cuny and Weigele will head the Internal Affairs Committee. They will oversee the AS UA bylaws and constitution.
- Montanaro and Rico will head the Projects Coordinator Committee. They will handle coordination of all individual Senate projects.
- Garcia will sit as the College Advisory Council chair. He will inform the Senate of academic advancements within each college.
- Davidson will serve as chair of the Senate. He will head meetings, set direction in Senate, assist other senators, and serve as representative to the executive side.
- Anderson will sit as the vice chair of the Senate. He will assist and fill in for chair, organize leadership training and promote unity while keeping the Senate diverse.
Wilson's newly appointed Cabinet in ASUA includes:
- David Benton, Arizona Students' Association Director, second-year law student
- Barrigan Melfy, ASA director, business and public administration senior
- Jeff Schrade, ASA Task Force direct or, political science and economics sophomore
- Erick Owen, University Budget Review Committee Director, accounting and finance sophomore
- Patrick Williams, Academic Affairs director, communications sophomore
- Brook Rosenbaum, Federal Relations director, French and political science sophomore
- Gilbert Garcia, chief of staff, microbiology junior
