The Arizona men's club rugby team had an extremely successful season that saw it go 14-4 in the Pacific Coast Collegiate Rugby Conference Southern Division.

Senior prop Chris Everett has earned a spot on the All-Conference team and will have an opportunity to compete for a spot on the All-American team.

Surprisingly, the team didn't make the regional playoffs despite the fact that, "We play in the toughest division," Arizona assistant coach Mike Veth said.

The Wildcats started the season 5-0, but ran into a losing streak in the middle of the season.

After dropping three straight, Arizona hosted UC-Santa Barbara and was defeated 47-33.

Although the Wildcats lost the game, it was the turning point of the season because the 33 points on the board against the Gauchos was the most any team had scored on UCSB all year.

Arizona went on to win its remaining eight games, including a win over San Diego State.

Some of the leaders of the team this year were seniors Thomas Scholzen, Christopher Bloomer and Everett, juniors Paul Gause and Joshua Glaser and George Hadjipolou.

"These guys did more than they were expected to. They would lead in practice and handle fund raising. This team had to work hard for everything," Veth said.
