A four-person committee has begun to collect names in a search to replace retiring UA baseball coach Jerry Kindall.

Rocky LaRose, senior associate director of athletics for sports programs, Joel Valdez, senior vice president of business affairs, John Perrin, senior associate director of athletics for business and finance, and head football Coach Dick Tomey form the committee gathering the coaching prospects, said Jim Livengood, University of Arizona athletic director. LaRose is the committee's chair.

Livengood said all members of the committee were picked for particular reasons.

"Rocky is a natural to chair because her job is to work with the coach. John deals with the financial side of athletics and understands baseball. Joel knows the community and the feel for being a Wildcat, and Dick understands baseball and what it is like being a coach at this university," Livengood said.

Livengood said he'll make the final decision on the new coach, but now is the time for "everybody and anybody" to make their coaching suggestions.

Livengood said he hopes to have a "workable" number of coaching suggestions ready next week after the College World Series.
