Grant Smith has resigned as director of the Department of Campus Recreation after nearly nine years as a UA employee.

According to a memo from the Director of Health and Wellness Dr. Murray DeArmond, Smith tendered his resignation June 4.

The memo gave no reason why Smith resigned, and no additional information was available from DeArmond's office or the Department of Campus Recreation.

Brian Carswell, associate director of Campus Recreation, has taken over as acting director. Carswell has been employed by the UA since August, 1983.
