Former Associated Students President Ben Driggs has been awarded the Swanson International Scholarship to Oxford University in England.

Driggs, who graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in economics and Latin American studies, will begin this fall at Oxford, continuing his studies.

The scholarship provides for the cost of tuition, room and board, books, round-trip airfare and a personal allowance.

Driggs was UA student body president last year. He also belonged to Bobcats senior honorary, tutored Spanish and volunteered as an interpreter at University Medical Center.

He is currently in Santiago, Chile, studying Latin American literature and politics. Earlier this summer, he spent time in Honduras studying the economic feasibility of solar energy in rural areas.
