Four cars parked on the north side of Kaibab-Huachuca Residence Hall, 940 E. Fourth St., were vandalized Thursday between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Two of the cars, a Jeep and a Toyota, showed signs of attempted theft, according to police reports. The Jeep had damage to the stereo molding and the right rear speaker. The Toyota's trunk lock was damaged, and the trunk could not be opened to ascertain i f any theft had occurred. The Jeep and two other cars, a Nissan and a Datsun, had their tires slashed.
Police responded to calls from La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave., twice Thursday after two residents reported separate incidents of suspicious activity.
In the first incident, a resident reported that a male resident of the hall had made continual unwanted advances toward her.
The other student, a male between 35 and 40 years old with "constantly bloodshot eyes," asked the resident out repeatedly, followed her, and hugged her once. The woman said she does not know the man.
Another resident of La Paz reported a suspicious person in a female common restroom Thursday.
Police reports stated the resident caught sight of a subject peering through space between the shower curtain and the wall. She only saw the forehead and eye of the man, who left the bathroom immediately. There were no other witnesses.
A community service officer noticed two men, one holding a bicycle tire, riding bicycles eastbound on the UA Mall at a rapid pace, May 11.
University police then stopped the men at the corner of North Santa Rita Avenue and East Adams Street.
Officers asked the man with the wheel, who they identified as Michael Spencer Balensiefer, 19, of the 2800 block of North Edith Boulevard, where he had gotten it. Balensiefer told officers he had found it on a bicycle which had already been stripped. Bale nsiefer was placed under arrest and was asked to take the officers to the bicycle.
The bicycle, a silver 17-inch Full Force mountain bicycle, was found to be in good condition, the report stated. Officers left a note on the bicycle for the owner, and the wheel was placed into evidence.
Balen was cited on charges of theft and released.
A university police officer stopped to investigate a group of teenagers early Wednesday morning after he "saw a black male subject hide" and walk away quickly at Carl's Jr., 1001 N. Park Ave., according to police reports.
The officer was driving through the restaurant's parking lot when he saw the teen, a Tucson area high school student, who then walked away towards a Ford pickup truck. Police reports stated that the teenager "acted as if he was hiding something."
Officers approached the teenager and asked him why he walked away. The teenager replied, "I get real nervous around cops." The youth then consented to a search, but nothing was found. A retracing of the teen's steps by the officers also yielded nothing.
The officer then approached the pickup, which held several more teenagers. The officers searched the vehicle and found a pipe which held a "greenish residue." All of the teenagers denied knowledge of the pipe, and no arrests were made.
Police responded to the Computer Center, 1021 N. Highland, May 11, after a UA employee's report that someone had plugged a second-floor bathroom sink with paper towels between 6 and 7:30 p.m.
When police arrived, there was water standing on the bathroom floor and in the hall outside the bathroom. The faucet had been turned off, but water had begun to leak through the ceiling onto the first floor.
An officer responded to a report of a suspicious male using the shower at the Bear Down Gymnasium, 1428 E. University Drive, at 9:51 a.m., May 12.
The officer found a 38-year-old Tucson man nude and showering, according to police reports. The man said he was the guest of another man, who was a student.
A fully clothed 25-year-old man, who the nude man said was the student, could produce no student identification. No arrests were made, but both men were warned not to trespass on the campus again.
