Graff takes amateur championship,Baena named Player of the Year

Arizona junior golfer Heather Graff captured the title at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships last weekend in Illinois.

Graff defeated Arizona State golfer Jody Niemann in the semifinals.

Graff, from Kennewick, Wash., helped the Wildcats to the NCAA Championship in May and finished as the eighth-ranked player in the nation.


The College Golf Foundation added yet another laurel to UA golfer Maria Baena's mantel last week, when it named her its winner of the Rolex/Eleanor Dudley College Player of the Year Award. Baena finished at the top of the national rankings after capping h er phenomenal freshman year with the individual NCAA Championship.

Baena also won the Buckeye Classic, the Betsy Rawls Classic and the LSU-Fairwood Invitational.
