History has been made. The Arizona women's swimming and diving team has gone undefeated, finishing the dual meet season 8-0.

The fifth-ranked Wildcats handed the No.17 Arizona State Sun Devils (8-5) a 187-95 defeat this weekend in Tempe. Arizona was led by All-American Laurie Kline, who won three events, including the 200-meter freestyle in 2 minutes, 4.90 seconds, and the 800m free in 9:00.53.

Junior Ashley Tappin, who returned to action last week, finished first in the 100m butterfly, posting a time of 1:02.96.

Arizona State was stifled from the start by Arizona's dominating performance. Senior All-American Joanne Currah was the only Sun Devil to win an event, finishing first in the 200m backstroke, with a time of 2:24.24.

Ranked 12th in the nation, the Arizona State men's team handily defeated the No. 9 Wildcats, 174-126.

Mike Melley won the 800m free in 8:33.88 and Robert Smith placed first in the 200m free (1:54.96) to pace the Sun Devils.

"This was our best dual meet of the year," ASU menÍs head coach Ernie Maglischo said. "It was a good, solid team effort."

Arizona was led by Jason Hodder, who placed first in the 100m breaststroke in 1:06.28. Divers Andre Sabbah and Brian Spears continued to dominate, finishing first and second in the 1-meter and 3-meter events, respectively.
