When the Arizona baseball team takes the field today, it will face its most difficult opponent to date - No. 21 Texas A&M.

Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. at Sancet Field.

The Aggies are coming off an impresive 44-22-1 season. This will be the season opener for A&M but it comes against a confident Arizona team.

"We have a good attitude, everybody's working hard and we've just got to keep on rolling," designated hitter Kenny Corley said.

Senior Matt Hendren (3-0, 3.92 ERA) will start today, Shawn Barrington (0-0, 4.42 ERA) tomorrow and Jason Ford (1-0, 1.56 ERA) on Saturday.

"I expect them to be good, they were good last year," Hendren said of the Aggies. "They lost a few players, but I expect them to give us a real good challenge, it'll probably be a step up.

"We have to play well against these kind of teams, because these are the teams we're going to be facing in the Six-Pac."

The Wildcats' offensive machine has been particularly impressive of late, with first baseman Brian Becker, Russ Brown and Corley all hitting home runs in the sweep against Washington State.

"We have good hitters. Corley's hot and Becker's hot, (catcher) Tom King hit the ball well," Arizona head coach Jerry Kindall said. "We have the ability to score runs."

After difficult games against New Mexico, Cal State-Dominguez Hills and Washington State, the Wildcats are ready to face Texas A&M.

"I was really happy we played three good games against Washington State. It was a quality team and I'm hoping we can do the same thing against Texas A&M," Hendren said.

Game time for tomorrow and Saturday will be 1 pm.
