Arizona's Vicky Maes made it to the championship game of the Rolex Intercollegiate Tennis Championship before losing to Kansas' Kyle Hunt 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 yesterday in Dallas.

The Rolex Championship featured 18 of the top 20 nationally ranked players. Ranked sixth nationally and seeded fourth in the tournament, Maes drew a chance to prove her ability against the best.

Maes, a sophomore, played consistent in what was a tournament of upsets. By the beginning of the third round, Maes was the highest-seeded player left.

She advanced to Sunday's final with her semifinal victory over Florida's Dawn Buth 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 the day before.

Earlier that day Maes defeated Georgia's Michelle Anderson 6-4, 6-4.

Maes upped her overall record to 26-5 with her runner-up finish.
