Cops spend too much time busting bikers

Editor:

Recently, my friend received a ticket for running a stop sign on his bicycle. Such a horrible and unbelievable act of neglect on his part was certainly worthy of the $64 fine levied upon him. I realize that activity such as not having a light on your bike, running a stop sign and reckless riding is a major problem on our campus streets. I myself have even been known to risk my life riding from my late afternoon lab without a light or reflective clothing. Crazy you say? Indeed. I'm actually contemplating driving my car without a seat belt. I know what you are saying, crazy guys like me and my friend, and countless others, should be thrown away for good. I agree, get us off the streets!

Secondly, I'm all for letting go and acting crazy, but I saw a heinous and, quite frankly, disgusting crime Friday afternoon. I was unfortunately a witness to a 5-year-old on his tricyle in the pedestrian-only area. I want to know where the cops were when this malicious act was going on. I hope they were doing time well spent busting the alleged three young men who almost killed someone on our campus last week, or maybe they were hard at work trying to find the person who set fire to one of our lovely buildings. Nah, probably not.
