A female resident of Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., phoned police Monday evening after she saw a man masturbating in the dormitory courtyard.

At 11:56 p.m., police responded to the call, but could not locate the man, whom witnesses described as a white male between 19 and 20.

The witness and a friend were studying on the first floor of the hall's east wing. She left to call police and when she returned, the man was gone.

The student was advised to call police if she saw the suspect again.

University police were called to the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, 1050 N. Mountain Ave., at 11:14 p.m. Monday after residents reported a peeping Tom on the second level roof.

Four female residents reportedly saw a male prowler looking in a second-story window on the west side of the compound.

Officers were unable to locate the individual. They also checked the building perimeter, which appeared normal.

Police do not know how the man gained access to the roof.

A UA student is being sought by police after a false identification card was found in a wallet apparently left in Bear Down Gym, 1428 E. University Blvd.

Among other contents, the brown leather wallet reportedly contained an Arizona driver's license with a different birth date from that on a Florida license also found in the wallet.

Reports indicate the Florida license conforms to traits of other fake IDs confiscated by university police.

The case has been referred to the detective division for investigation.

A backpack and a study room keycard were stolen Saturday evening from the UA Medical Library, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., in possibly related incidents.

Between 11 and 11:05 p.m., a Pima Community College student's backpack was reportedly stolen while he was in the restroom. The student told police he left the backpack on a table and when he returned, it was gone.

Among other contents, the bag contained a stereo faceplate and a Texas Instruments calculator. The items stolen are valued at $600.

The next day, another student reported the theft of a study room keycard between 5 and 5:20 p.m.

While searching through trash cans on the third floor, the second student found the stolen backpack. It still contained some of the first student's belongings, but the calculator and faceplate were missing.

Three other larceny cases were reported to university police between Thursday and Monday.

A resident of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority called police after two rings valued at $1700 were reportedly stolen from her room.

Police reports indicate that between 5 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Monday, someone took the items from her room.

The victim suspects two other sorority members, but does not wish to press charges.

In a separate case, a student's wallet was stolen from the Campus Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St. sometime between 9 and 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

While playing basketball with friends, the victim left his wallet in his backpack in the corner of an indoor gymnasium. When he checked his backpack later, the wallet was gone.

Police checked the garbage cans and restrooms without success.

The value of the stolen items was unknown.

In an unrelated case, someone took a Motiv Ground Pounder mountain bicycle from racks south of the Franklin Building, 1011 E. Fifth St., between 10 and 10:45 a.m. Monday.

The victim reported seeing someone standing about four feet away while he was cable-locking the bicycle. The suspect may have seen the combination.

The stolen items are valued at $222.

A university motorcycle police officer collided with a pickup truck at North Santa Rita Avenue and East Sixth Street Friday when the officer failed to see the truck slow before it made a right turn.

Police reports indicate the motorcycle officer was following the 1996 Nissan pickup northbound on Santa Rita and was making equipment checks when the accident occurred.

The motorcycle hit the truck in the passenger side door, causing minor damage but no injuries.
