After an 11 day layoff from action, the tenth-ranked Arizona women's tennis team takes on No. 33 San Diego State today at 2 p.m. at the Robson Tennis Center.

Arizona takes their 6-0 record into today's dual match.

San Diego State (2-4) is coming off their 7-2 victory over Loyola Marymount last Saturday, following two consecutive defeats at the hands of Pacific 10 Conference powers Stanford (SDS lost 6-0) and California-Berkeley (2-7).

Junior Staphanie Sammaritano is gunning for her 18th win on the year and sophomore Betsy Miringoff is playing for her 15th win.

All-American Vicky Maes, ranked No. 6 in the nation, and head coach Becky Bell returned to the team Sunday night from the Rolex Intercollegiate Tennis Championship in Dallas.

Maes took second in the tournament, losing in the championship game to seventh-ranked Kyle Hunt of Kansas 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

It was a successful weekend for Maes, who beat two ranked players on her way to the finals - No. 38 Dawn Buth 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in the semifinals and No. 14 Gulberk Gultekin 6-3, 6-0 in the second round.

With less than a third of the season completed, Maes' overall singles' record is 26-5, already topping last year's 20-18 record.

Arizona takes their first Pac-10 conference road trip this weekend. Friday, UA matches up against No. 3 Stanford, last year's conference champion. The Cardinal return all 11 starters from last year's team that made it to the NCAA semifinals. Saturday Arizona plays No. 6 California, who reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. Arizona is in first place in the Pac-10 (2-0) with their wins over Southern Cal and UCLA.
