The Arizona Board of Regents meeting continues today at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.
Major items on today's agenda:
- Preliminary discussion on the state operating budget request for fiscal year 1998. The regents are expected to vote on the request at its Sept. 26-27 meeting at the UA, after which it will be forwarded to the Arizona legislature.
- The UA is expected to request bonding authority for several capital construction projects. Included in the list is a 1997 bond sale for the Integrated Instructional Facility; 1998 sales for a humanities building, poetry center and Memorial Student Union expansion; and a 1999 bond sale for a pharmacy building.
- The UA is scheduled to request approval to plan for six new academic degree programs and extend the Ph.D. program in art history. This item was expected to be discussed yesterday, but was delayed to today's portion of the meeting.
- The presidents of Arizona's universities will make their reports to the regents.
