The Arizona women's soccer team suffered its second consecutive loss of the season on Monday, falling 3-2 against Brigham Young at the Soccer Showdown in Montana.

The Wildcats (0-2 overall, 0-0 in the Pacific 10 Conference), who lost to Montana, 7-1, on Sunday played a much better game on Monday, head coach Lisa Fraser said.

"It was a good match all the way around," she said. "People stepped up and played much better than they played on Sunday."

Junior Jennifer Ginsberg scored the first goal of the match on a long shot. Senior Christine Keeley put Arizona ahead 2-0 after scoring a goal off a pass from sophomore forward Nikki Jones.

The Cougars (2-0) came back with a goal from striker Shauna Rohbock. Before halftime, BYU's Karen Robbins tied the score 2-2 by slipping a shot past UA goalkeeper Jennifer Weibel.

"We played extremely well throughout the first 35 minutes and then it became a battle," Fraser said.

"We were a little frustrated that we had allowed them to come back 2-2 before halftime," Keeley said.

In the second half the Cougars' defense held the Wildcats from taking any shots.

With under four minutes remaining in the game, Brigham Young's Mara Hendershot scored the game-winner from a cross by Leanne Johnson.

"It was a game that we should have won and didn't," Fraser said.

Fraser said that the team was disappointed after losing both games over the weekend but that it has to deal with the season on a game-by-game basis.

"It was nice to come back and play as well as we did after having such a dismal performance on Sunday," Fraser said.
