Oregon scores last 8 points in upset victory

Arizona (16-7, 8-5 Pacific 10 Conference) scored 12-straight points to take its only lead of the game, 72-70, on Miles Simon's 3-pointer from the corner with 3:22 to play, then didn't score again.

Wilkins, the point guard who has started every game in his four seasons at Oregon, also had a diving steal during Oregon's late surge, as the Ducks beat Arizona for the first time since March 2, 1991.

Oregon (15-8, 6-8) still has slim hopes for an NCAA Tournament berth. The Wildcats fell to 2-4 on the road in the Pac-10.

Jamal Lawrence led the Ducks with 20 points, while Wilkins and Kyle Milling added 15 each.

Mike Bibby scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half but had just two points, both free throws, over the last 11 minutes. Simon finished with 19.

Bibby, Simon and Jason Terry all missed 3-point tries down the stretch.

The Wildcats' leading scorer for the season, Michael Dickerson, was scoreless in the first half and wound up with 10 points.

The teams took turns with scoring outbursts in the second half.

After trailing the entire game, Arizona came back to tie 58-58 on a 12-3 run, capped by Bennett Davison's basket with 8:36 to play. But Oregon came back with a 12-2 spurt to take a 70-60 lead with 5:42 to go.

Then it was Arizona's turn for a 12-0 outburst that made it 72-70.

But Oregon had the final run of the game.

The Ducks took an 18-4 lead as Terek Brown came off the bench in the game's first minute and hit three 3-pointers.

A 14-1 Arizona run cut Oregon's lead to 19-18, but the Ducks scored 10 in a row to go up 35-22 with 6:10 left in the half and led 44-32 at halftime.
