Coatney is running for the Senate on six issues. First, he hopes to publish a senate weekly newsletter in the Daily Wildcat, indicating the latest issues within ASUA. He also plans to increase funding to the International Students Association, the Association of Students with Disabilities, and Escort Service. He said he plans to implement these ideas by reforming ASUA's budgeting process and diverting surplus funds to these organizations. Finally, he said he hopes to open up fund- raising opportunities, possibly luring a local auto sales business into donating a van to Escort Services in exchange for free advertising to be placed on the van.
