  • The UA men's basketball team plays Washington State University at 6:37 p.m. in McKale Center.

  • The Department of Art presents William T. Wiley to speak on "Animal Writes," in the Center for Creative Photography Auditorium at 7 p.m. Wiley is a contemporary artist from the Bay area who uses a range of art mediums such as drawings, watercolors and sculpture.

  • The Italian club continues its Marcello Mastroianni film festival with "Divorce/Marriage Italian Style," in the Modern Languages Room 350 at 7:30 p.m.

  • The Center for Transfer Students hosts an information session on UA sports, clubs and Greek Life in the Bear Down Gym Room 201 from 1 to 2 p.m.

  • Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering present Costas Grigoropoulos, of the University of California at Berkeley, to speak on "Kinetics of Pulsed Laser-Induced Phase-Change," in the new Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Building Room S202 at 4 p.m. Refreshments are served at 3:20 in Room N722.

  • The Visiting Composer Series presents Richard Wernick, professor emeritus of Pennsylvania University, to speak on his recent compositions and the forth string quartet in the Music Lecture Hall Room 146 of the Fine Arts complex at 4:30 p.m.

  • The Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium presents "The Comets are Coming," a exploration into the nature and origin of comets at 7:30 p.m. The Laser Light show features music from Nirvana and Pearl Jam at 8:30 p.m.. General admissions is $6 and $5 for students.

  • System and Industrial Engineering Seminar presents K. Larry Head, of the UA, to speak on "The Rhodes Real-Time Traffic-Adaptive Signal Control Prototype: an Overview," in the Engineering building 20 Room 301 at 2 p.m.

    Head discusses a new approach to traffic signal controls that uses advances in computing communications, optimization, and real-time systems to address the needs of improved traffic signal timing.

  • The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "Ransom" at 7:30 and 9:50. Admission is $2.50.
