A man was cited on a misdemeanor assault charge Sunday after he hit a plate of food that then burned a 13-year-old volunteer worker at Arizona Stadium, 540 N. Vine Ave.

University police responded to Arizona Stadium after a Pasqua Yaqui police officer working at a powwow reported that he detained a man involved in an alleged assault.

The officer said that witnesses told him the man, Everett Margo, 50, whose address was listed on police reports as a post office box on the San Carlos Indian Reservation, hit a plate of beans the 13-year-old was serving at a food stand and the food flew up into the boy's face.

According to police reports, the 13-year-old received a noticeable burn on his right cheekbone and tiny, red burn marks on his front right shoulder. Police also noticed food on the front of the boy's shirt, reports stated.

Police contacted the boy's mother who told police she wanted to press charges against Margo.

Margo told police the 13-year-old handed him the wrong order and that he became upset. Margo also said that when the boy handed the order to him, he hit the plate with his hand and walked away.

Margo told police he didn't try to hit the boy with the food, police reports stated.

The 13-year-old told police the same story, adding that Margo said he no longer wanted the food before hitting it.

Police cited Margo and released him at the scene.

A man was arrested on four charges Sunday after drugs were found in his car near the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Fourth Avenue.

According to university police reports, police witnessed a 1989 Honda Civic accelerate rapidly at 11:57 p.m. from a red light at Speedway Boulevard and North Euclid Avenue. The Honda was paced at 54 mph heading west on Speedway Boulevard when police noticed the car drift out of its lane and correct itself, police reports stated.

During the traffic stop, the driver, Joshua Willett, 23, of the 3000 block of West Orange Grove Road, opened up the glove compartment to look for his registration and insurance when a plastic baggie containing a "green leafy substance" fell out, police reports stated. Reports stated Willett put the baggie in between the front seats.

When police asked for the baggie, Willett gave it to police and stated, "It's my personal stash," according to police reports.

Police then arrested Willett on a charge of possession of marijuana.

While conducting a search of the car, Willett tried to throw away a plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance, police reports stated. When police asked what it was, Willett said, "It's my cocaine," reports stated.

Police also cited Willett on a charge of possession of narcotic drugs.

As Willett spoke to police, police noticed a "moderate odor of intoxicating beverage" coming from his breath and body, according to police reports. Reports stated that Willett also had "red and watery eyes."

Willett told police he had "three beers" that night, reports stated.

While police conducted field sobriety tests on Willett, he stopped while doing one of the tests and said, "Fuck it, don't even bother, you got me," according to police reports.

Police also cited Willett on a charge of DUI impaired to the slightest degree.

An Intoxilyzer test at police headquarters showed Willett had a blood alcohol content of .140 and .141, according to police reports. Police then also cited Willett on a charge of DUI BAC of .10 or above.

Willett was booked into Pima County Jail.
