A desk clerk at Maricopa Residence Hall, 1031 E. North Campus Drive, reported receiving suspicious phone calls Tuesday about 8 p.m.

The female clerk reported that a male caller asked her if UA students would be interested in "pre-professional boxing." The desk clerk told the caller UA students would not be interested. The caller then thanked her and hung up.

A few minutes later, the caller called again, asking the same question. The student told the caller she had just spoken with him. The caller apologized, saying he was calling all the residence halls.

According to police reports, the incident is similar to one that occurred last year, but no connection between last year and this year has been made.

Two cars collided Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m. in the Cherry Avenue Garage, 1641 E. Enke Drive.

Kristen L. Lyons, 18, of the 2000 block of North Silverbell Road, was backing out of her space on the first floor of the garage when she struck a car traveling eastbound. A witness told police the driver of the second car, Marlene Supco, 37, of the 4000 block of West Ajo Way, was speeding at the time of the collision.

The rear driver-side door and panel of Supco's black 1994 Saturn was dented, and the passenger-side bumper of Lyons' 1995 Eagle was scratched.

No injuries were reported.

A wallet was found Tuesday at 5:55 p.m. outside the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, 1801 E. First St.

The black leather wallet contained two debit cards, a Visa credit card and a Trojan nonlubricated condom.

Attempts to contact the owner of the wallet failed, and it was placed into property.

Several compact discs, videotapes and audio cassettes were reported stolen Sunday from Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, 430 N. Cherry Ave.

A resident told police he had left his room at 9 a.m. that day and returned at 5:30 p.m. to discover his items missing.

The door to the room did not have a lock, but opened up to a locking game room. The student said several people had keys to the room.

Forty CDs, 100 audio cassettes and eight video cassettes were reported missing.

University police could not dust for fingerprints because of the amount of traffic through the room.

Later the same day, the student called police from Bookman's Used Books, Music and Software, 1930 E. Grant Road, to report he had found some of the items, which had been sold to the store.

Police reports stated the student repurchased the material for $50, the price Bookman's paid, rather than take the bookstore to civil court to regain the material.

Police then responded to the Warren Avenue Tunnel where several audio cassettes and CDs had been reported found. The student identified these as his.

In all, 22 CDs and 24 audio cassettes were recovered.

A Jeep Cherokee stolen Aug. 22 was recovered Tuesday.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department found the Jeep in Ajo.

The green Jeep, valued at $17,000, was taken from the Zone 1 parking lot on the north side of the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority, 1071 N. Mountain Ave.

A bicycle wheel was reported stolen Tuesday from the Education building, 1430 E. Second Street.

A female student told university police she locked her bicycle frame to a rack on the south side of the building, Aug.29 at 8 a.m. She returned at noon that same day to discover the wheel missing.

The bicycle wheel had a quick-release hub and was not locked with the frame. It was valued at $50.

A gate on the north side of the Main Gate Garage, 815 E. Second St., was found broken Monday.

University police, on a building check at 10:52 p.m., found the wooden gate on the ground near the exit.

The value of the damage was unknown.

A male student said he locked his bicycle with a U-lock to a rack on the east side of the building Saturday at noon. He discovered his bicycle and lock missing Monday at 2 a.m.

The black Trek 820 bicycle was valued at $200. The lock was valued at $20.
