- In conjunction with Multi-Cultural Week, the African Student Affairs hosts Tucson Soul Explosion and African Market Day, on the UA Mall from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The event will highlight the cultural contributions as well as increase awareness in Afro-Centric information and merchandise.
- The Center for Middle Eastern Studies presents Leila Hudson, of the University of Michigan, to speak on "Women and Islam in Modern Syria," in the Franklin Building Room 306 at 4 p.m.
- The UA men's tennis team plays USC at 1:30 p.m. at the Robson Tennis Center. Tomorrow the tennis team plays UCLA at noon in the Robson Tennis Center.
The UA men's basketball team plays University of California at 3 p.m. tomorrow at McKale Center.
The UA men's baseball team plays UCLA at 7 p.m. tonight, 1 p.m. tomorrow and 1 p.m. Sunday at Hi Corbett Field.
The UA softball team plays University of California at 1 p.m. tomorrow and Stanford University at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hillenbrand Stadium.
- The Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium presents "The Comets are Coming," an exploration into the nature and origin of comets at 7:30 p.m. The laser light show "Psychedelic Hog" features music from the 60's and 70's at 8:30 p.m., "Lollapalaser II" features music from bands of the last five Lollapalooza tours at 9:30 p.m., "Metallica II" at 10:45 p.m. and Pink Floyd's "Darkside of the Moon" at 8:30 p.m.. General Admission is $6, $5 for students.
- The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "Il Postino (The Postman)" at 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Admission is $2.50.
Fact of the Day
The number of 1040A income tax returns audited by the IRS in 1995 was 2 percent. Persons with incomes of $25,000 to $49,999 a year were audited .9 percent of the time. The most audited tax bracket of income earners were persons who made over $100,000 or more per year. They were audited 2.8 percent of the time.
