Sixth St.The student told university police that the man has tried to interact with her since October, but that she told him that she does not want to talk to him several times in February. Police reports stated that the man had also tried to contact her at her work. The student told police she was running on the Rec Center's indoor track Thursday at 7:30 p.m. when the man approached her and said, "I've been watching you," and, "Do you want me to wait for you or what?" According to police reports, the student told the man she was going to use the Rec Center's pool, and when she went to the pool, the man was waiting. Police reports stated the man told the student, "Let me be your lifeguard." The student told police she left after she saw the man and ran to her vehicle because she feared that the man was still watching. The student told police she did not want to press charges.
University police requested three male students be enrolled in the Dean of Students' diversion program after they admitted to smoking a marijuana cigarette Wednesday, police reports stated. According to the reports, a UA security officer reported three students possibly smoking marijuana at 8:34 p.m. on the west side of the Arizona State Museum north, 1013 E. University Blvd. Police approached the students and smelled the strong odor of burning marijuana as they got closer, police reports stated. Police did not find any marijuana on the students after a consent search, but police did see a "partially burned marijuana cigarette under a bench one of the men was sitting on. Police took possession of the burnt cigarette and smelled the students' fingers. Police reports stated that the students' fingers smelled like "the odor of burned marijuana." Police also found a "yellow tint" in all of the students' mouths, and "green particles" inside two of the students' mouths, police reports stated. The three students admitted to smoking marijuana, but the students told police they did not know who sold it to them, according to police reports. Police requested the three students be enrolled in the Dean of Students' diversion program for unlawful use of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana.
A Tucson man was arrested on a charge of providing false information to a law enforcement officer after he tried to use his brother's name as identification to police, university police reports stated. Police conducted a traffic stop at East Sixth Street and North Santa Rita Avenue, and an officer asked the vehicle's passenger, Adan F. Paredes, 24, of the 1700 block of South Citation Avenue, if he had identification with him in case the vehicle's driver had an invalid driver's license, police reports stated. Paredes told police he did not have his ID with him but said his name was "Oscar Paredes," according to police reports. While conducting a consentual search of the vehicle, police found Paredes' wallet. An ID inside the wallet had Paredes' photo on it and the name of "Adan F. Paredes." A records check of Paredes' ID showed he had a warrant for a suspended driver's license that he had not paid. Paredes told police he gave his brother's name because he did not want to go to jail, according to police reports. Police arrested Paredes and warned him to take care of the warrant from the Pima County Sheriff's Office. Paredes was cited on the false information charge and released at the scene.
University police requested that a male student be enrolled in the Dean of Students' diversion program for disorderly conduct Thursday after police received reports of a fight at 7:26 p.m. at the intersection of North Cherry Avenue and East University Boulevard, police reports stated. The student told police he was not fighting but was being "obnoxious." When police asked the student what he meant by obnoxious, the student said, "We were just having fun making fun of people," police reports stated. A witness, who provided a voluntary witness statement, described the student's statements as "antagonizing." Police requested that the student be diverted to the Dean of Students' diversion program.
