Allen Arizona Daily Wildcat March 12, 1997 Police BeatTwo men were cited on drug charges, and one of the men on a felony warrant, Sunday near the intersection of East Sixth Street and North Campbell Avenue.University police were driving southbound on Campbell Avenue about 10:44 p.m. when they noticed a van without its tail lights on. After conducting a traffic stop on the van, the driver, Jason J. Peters, 27, of the 900 block of West Edgewater Drive, told police his driver's license was suspended and his wife had the van's information and insurance, according to police reports. A record check on Peters showed he had a felony warrant, police reports stated. Police then arrested Peters on the warrant. After being arrested, Peters told police he had a baggie containing about 11/2 ounces of marijuana in the van, reports stated. Peters asked his brother, Jamie J. Peters, 20, of the 900 block of West Edgewater Drive, to get the marijuana because he knew where it was. Jamie Peters retrieved the marijuana for police, and police took the baggie as evidence, police reports stated. Both Jason and Jamie Peters told police they had purchased the marijuana for their father for medicinal reasons. Jason Peters told police his father was "very sick." Jason Peters told police he did not have documentation stating his father had permission from a doctor to possess and use marijuana. Police arrested Jamie Peters on a charge of possession of marijuana and added a charge of possession of marijuana to Jason Peters' felony warrant arrest. Jason Peters was booked into Pima County Jail. Jamie Peters was taken to police headquarters and released after signing a promise to appear in court.
A female student reported a harassing message on her answering machine Sunday at Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St. The student told university police she found a message on her answering machine at 10 a.m. A male voice was speaking and other voices were laughing in the background. Police reports stated the message said how "horny" the caller was and how he wanted to insert his "large penis" into her. The student told police she did not feel threatened by the call and did not want to press charges.
A female student reported she received a harassing telephone call Sunday in her room at Hopi Residence Hall, 1440 E. Fourth St. The student told university police a male caller called her at 9:15 p.m., whispered and said he was her boyfriend. The student said that it was hard to recognize the voice and that she thought it was her boyfriend. Police reports stated that the caller called the student by name and became intimate in his conversation. Reports also stated that the man said he was masturbating as he talked to the student. Police reports stated that the caller instructed the student to come to his room because he had an engagement ring for her. The student told police she went to her boyfriend's room, but her boyfriend did not have an engagement ring and said he had not called her. The student told police that is when she found out that it had been someone else that called her. The student also told police she felt harassed and wanted to press charges. Police reports stated the student successfully used the phone's *57 tracing function but had no idea who called her.
A male student reported his car damaged and his stereo stolen Monday at Sigma Chi fraternity house, 1616 E. First St. The student told university police he parked and locked his 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier Sunday at 5 p.m. When he returned to his car Monday at 8:45 a.m., the student found the passenger side door window broken and his Alpine car compact disc player with a detachable face gone. Police reports stated that the window was broken after the burglar tried to pry it open around the door's frame. The CD player was valued at $350. The value of the damage was unknown.
