By Keith J. Allen Arizona Daily Wildcat March 14, 1997 Police BeatTwo female students reported harassing phone calls Wednesday to their room in Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St. One of the students told university police that about 1 a.m., the telephone rang and a male caller asked to speak to her roommate. The student said she told the caller her roommate was asleep and hung up the phone. Police reports stated the man called back and insisted on talking to the roommate and called the student a "fucking bitch." The student told police she hung up the phone. The student told police the male caller called back again, but the student again hung up the phone. The phone rang again, but this time it was a female caller who said she was going to "fuck" the student up, police reports stated. The student told police she heard the male caller in the background. The student told police she then hung up and called the police. While the student was on the phone with police, the student's call waiting indicated another call. When the student checked the other line, it was the female caller, police reports stated. Reports stated that the female caller told the student "they" were going to get the roommate's car and take it to Phoenix. The two students told police the calls had also occurred last semester but were not reported. The students also told police they wanted to prosecute. The student on the phone told police at least one of the calls traced successfully by the *57 function on the phone.
A female student reported being harassed by two employees of Southwestern Co. Wednesday in the Memorial Student Union, 1303 E. University Blvd. The student told university police she worked under one of the men last summer selling books. She said the men were annoyed with her because she wrote a letter about her experience working for the company. The student told police she gave the letter to the Arizona Daily Wildcat and the University of Arizona Trademark and Licensing Department. The student told police one of the men accused her of being a liar and that he would get an attorney to prove it. She said she was upset while the two men talked to her. Police told the student that if the men came back to talk to her without her consent, she should call police.
A male student reported his truck stolen Tuesday from Lot 4052 near the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Vine Avenue. The student told university police that he parked his 1988 Toyota truck on the north side of the lot Monday at 6 p.m. When he returned to his truck Tuesday at 5 p.m., it was gone. The value of the truck is unknown.
A male student reported his stereo stolen and damage to his vehicle Tuesday outside the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house, 1801 E. First St. The student told university police he parked his 1989 Jeep Cherokee in a parking lot north of the fraternity house Monday at 7 p.m. When the student returned to his Jeep Tuesday at 10 a.m., he found the passenger side vent window broken and his Sony compa ct disc player gone. Police reports stated that the window was completely broken out to provide access to the door lock. Reports also stated that wires going to the CD player were cut and the dash molding was "forced out." The values of the damage and CD player were unknown.
A female UA employee reported graffiti to a men's restroom wall Wednesday in the Education building, 1430 E. Second St. Police reports stated the writing appeared to have been made with a wide-tipped felt pen. The employee told university police an unknown man told her of the damage. The value of the damage was unknown.
