Arizona rugby team gets second chance against California

The Arizona rugby team faces No. 1 California this Sunday in a one-game match in Berkeley, Calif.

The two meet earlier this season, Arizona lost 26-3.

"We want our players to play well. (California) still is the best team in the country. I don't know how that improves our chances, but the only difference now is that we played them once before," Sitton said.

Sitton said he hopes that winning the Southern California Collegiate Conference this season for the first time ever, gave his team so confidence this time around.

"They're happy about it. They know that this is a new season," Sitton said.

Arizona finished 10-2 overall with a perfect 7-0 in conference matches.

Sitton said the Wildcats need to play faster and execute better on offense in order to defeat the Bears.

Sitton said there is a chance that the Wildcats will face California in the play-offs.Playing the winner of 12 of the last 15 national championships may not seem like a good way to rest and prepare for the playoffs. But, Sitton said, keeping in shape is the main reason for the Wildcats to attend to the California Invitational this weekend.
