- David Yetman, of the UA Southwest Studies Center, presents Geography and Regional Development Colloquium: "'Round Scattered Stones': The Political Ecology of a Mayo Village in Sonora, Mexico." - The Women's Volleyball Doubletree Classic starts at 10 a.m. today, and the last game of the day begins at 7:30 p.m. Games begin at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, and the last game of the day starts at 7:30 p.m. The tournament is in McKale Center. Teams involve d are Eastern Washington, St. Mary's, University of Portland, Utah State and the University of Arizona. Admission is free. - The Center for Creative Photography celebrates the art and career of Judith Golden, retiring UA art professor. - The Mathematics Department presents three seminars today. Dan Hochheiser, of the Arizona Center for Math Sciences, speaks on "Controlling Extended Systems with Spatially Filtered, Time Delayed Feedback" at noon in Math, Room 402.
At 1 p.m. in Math, Room 402, Tom Sideris, of the University of California-Santa Barbara, speaks on "The Lifespan of 2D Compressible Flow."
Associate Chemical Engineering Professor Jennifer L. Sinclair speaks on "Modeling the Vertical Transport of Dense Gas-Particle Suspensions" at 4 p.m. in Math, Room 501. Refreshments are served at 3:30 p.m. in Math Room 401N.
SATURDAY
- "The Arrival" opens tonight at Gallagher Theatre. It stars Charlie Sheen as a researcher who discovers alien signals, and will show through Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. Admission is $2.50.
- Erica Reiter gives a Doctoral Solo Recital on viola at 3 p.m. in Crowder Hall. Admission is free. Call 621-2998 for more information.
SUNDAY
- Arizona Repertory Theatre performs a matinee of "You Can't Take It With You," a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman.
