'Swonk' cartoon inappropriate and disrespectful of religious beliefs

We would like to express our disappointment with the Thursday, March 27 issue of Sohcahtoa, specifically, Swonk: Hidden History. Never before have we witnessed a total lack of taste and disrespect for others' beliefs in a public institution where church and state are to remain separated.

Religion is held sacred in peoples' hearts, and to blatantly mock the entire foundation that their life is built upon is totally off-base, whether you are Catholic, Christian, Mormon, or any other religion.

Humor is understandable, but in no way did we find this "comic" funny, only offensive. Can you give a viable reason for publishing this comic? Freedom of speech is one thing, but had this been concerning race or gender, most would have second thoughts before printing such hot, controversial topics. Please think twice before allowing material with this type of content.
