  • Beginning today a Dean's signature is required for all changes made regarding class schedules.

  • Career Services offers a free workshop on interviewing skills from noon until 1 p.m. in the Memorial Student Union Room 280. Students are required to check in at the Career Services reception desk in the lower level of Old Main.

    The workshop helps participants answer interview questions in one-on-one and panel settings. It will also cover what to do and what not to do in a job interview.

  • Building Academic Community Speaker Series presents Steven C. Crow, professor in the department of aerospace and mechanical engineering, to speak on "Flying Cars" in the Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre at 12:15 p.m.

  • The American Red Cross will be at Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall, 610 N. Highland, collecting blood donations from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

  • Students for a Free Tibet are showing the documentary "Kingdom of the Lost Boy" in the Memorial Student Union's Cactus Lounge Room 280 at 5 p.m.

  • The University Physicians present "Menopause Update" in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Medical Office on the eighth floor of the University Medical Center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

  • The Arizona State Museum presents Hartman Lomawaima, associate director of the museum, to speak on "Hopi Food and Preparation" at the University Medical Center's DuVal Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. The lecture focuses on piki, a kind of wafer bread made from blue corn.

  • The Physics Department presents Mitchell Feigenbaum of Rockefeller University to speak on "Little Ellipses, Large Circles, Low Moon," in the Physics and Atmospheric Sciences Building Room 201 at 4 p.m. Refreshments are served at 3:45 p.m. in room 218.

  • The College of Agriculture and Pima County host "Irrigation Maintenance-Preparing" at 9 a.m. at the Extension Garden Center, 4210 N Campbell Ave. The demonstration lasts one hour, ending with a question and identification session.

Fact of the Day

Ground was broken for the University of Arizona, the first university in the state, October 27, 1887. About 600 Tucsonans attended the event.
