Even more thoughts on the UA title

Final observations while basking in the afterglow.

For some reason I feel like I need a cigarette ...

I, for one, am ready to start the Eugene Edgerson Fan Club.

Even if you didn't see his inspired rebounding effort in the Final Four, you probably heard about him telling Arizona's critics to "go to hell" at the stadium rally yesterday. That guy's a stud ...

So, we had to sell some copies of the Wildcat for $1 yesterday. Have you seen what the bookstore is charging for t-shirts? ...

I'd like to know just how many high school students were among the tens of thousands at Arizona Stadium yesterday. It was good to see. The turnout was spectacular and the noise level was louder than most football games ...

The stories of Monday night's party on Fourth Avenue just keep getting better. It's tough to top the streakers, though. Doing something like that takes ah ... sorry ladies ... balls ...

Monday on Fourth was like Woodstock and Mardi Gras rolled into one night.

I haven't seen that many breasts since my last visit to KFC ...

Some fans at yesterday's celebration began to chant "Three more years" for freshman Mike Bibby, but it was quickly drowned out by other cheers.

Three more years - wouldn't that be nice ...

As of 5:10 p.m. yesterday, I had yet to sleep ...

If there was ever a guy who let his play do his talking, it's Bibby. He avoids microphones and big crowds off the court, but thrives on making the big crowds scream with his stellar play ...

Three more years. It's nice to dream, isn't it ...

I've decided to give my hatred of fairweather fans a rest. For a while. Not all Tucsonans are bad, but those of you who are bad, you know who you are. Change your ways or please, sell me your tickets ...

He may not have scored a lot, but without Michael Dickerson's defense, Tucson wouldn't be such a happy place to be right now ...

With all five starters returning, Arizona should be the preseason No. 1 next year. My picks for the top five are: 1. Arizona, 2. UCLA (if everyone stays), 3. Clemson, 4. Duke, 5. North Carolina.

Sometime in the next couple of weeks things will probably begin to settle in your mind. Until then, continue to celebrate and always remember what Arizona has done over the last three weeks in pursuit of this title.

The national media is bound to forget ...

Sports editor Craig Degel shares his thoughts on sports and life every Wednesday in the Wildcat.
