- Jack White Week starts today in the Memorial Student Union's Sam's Place. The ninth annual pocket billiard clinic, exhibition and tournament kicks off today with pocket billiard clinics at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and also tomorrow at the same times . An eight-ball tournament for UA students starts tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., and a trick shot exhibition begins at 11 a.m. Friday when White plays the women and men's tournament champions in The Cellar of the Student Union. Friday at noon, White will hold a p ocket billiard and trick shot exhibition. All events are free. For more information, call Sam's Place at 621-1450.
- Kendra Gaines, of the Writing Skills Improvement Program, discusses "The Process of Writing: Getting Started: Overcoming Writer's Block" at 5 p.m. in Modern Languages, Room 410. This is a Weekly Writing Workshop and is free and open to the universit y community. Call Donna Rabuck at 621-5849 for more information.
- Bridget Carroll and Fred Gonzales give an informal talk about interpretive poetry, photography and collaboration in conjunction with the current exhibit at the Joseph Gross Gallery, "Warriors and Dreamers." The exhibit is by painters Suzanne Klotz a nd Gonzalo Espinosa and includes interpretive poetry by Carroll and documentary photography by Gonzales. It focuses on collaboration as a means of artistic exploration and understanding between Hispanic and Anglo cultures. The talk is from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Joseph Gross Gallery in the Fine Arts Complex next to the art building. Call Julie Sasse at 626-4215 for more information.
- The School of Music and Dance presents a Faculty Recital featuring Nancy Green on cello at 8 p.m. in Crowder Hall, located in the music building. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for UA employees, and $5 for senior citizens and students with I.D. Call 621-2998 for more information.
