- The Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium presents "The Comets are Coming," an exploration into the nature and origin of comets at 7:30 p.m. The 8:30 p.m. laser light show features music from Nirvana and Pearl Jam. For ticket prices call 621-STAR.
- The College of Agriculture presents William A. McDonough, of the University of Virginia, and host of the upcoming PBS special "Planet Neighborhood," to speak on "Our Future and the Making of Things" in the Architecture Auditorium at noon.
McDonough discuss how the use of design in revolutionary ways will allow American communities and industries to accrue long term natural and industrial capital.
- Dean Holly Smith officiates the dedication of a new computer lab for Social and Behavior Sciences graduates students and faculty at 3 p.m. in the Social Science building Room 115A.
Along with the new computer lab an instructional computing resource room had been developed for creating computer-generated multi-media course materials for use in undergraduate instruction.
- The Math Department presents Bernard Zeigler, of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, to speak on "Speedup via Discrete Event Representation of the Massively Parallel Simulation of Complex Systems" at 12:30 p.m. in the Math building Room 402. Brown bag lunches are appropriate.
- Libertarian Students discuss the Second Amendment on the UA Mall stage at noon. Discussions include: the genocide argument supporting the Second Amendment, a constitutional look at gun banning and the real connection between guns and crime.
- The Department of Art presents Robert Delgado to host an open session of "Artist Talk" in the Center for Creative Photography at 7 p.m.
- The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "Scream" at 7:30 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. The midnight special is "Beverly Hills Cop." Admission is $2.50.
