Police Beat

A Tucson man was arrested on a burglary charge after a male student reported that he saw a man take a wallet from his room Tuesday at Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall, 1420 E. Fifth St.

The student told university police that the man entered his room about 4:45 a.m. and stole his wallet, which contained an endorsed $600 check and other miscellaneous items. He said the door was left open when his roommate went to use the restroom.

The student told police he knew the man who entered the room because the man dated a girl living in the hall. He gave police a description of the man who entered his room.

Police went to the woman's door, and after knocking, heard a male voice say, "Who the hell?" police reports stated. Reports stated the man, fitting the description the student described, opened the door.

After police asked to see the man's hands, the man dropped a "dark object" from his right hand, police reports stated.

Police handcuffed the man, David L. Green, 30, of the 8700 block of East Seventh Street. Police then saw the woman lean into the door frame in an attempt to block the object, a wallet, from the officers' view, police reports stated.

Police asked the woman if the wallet was hers and she said no. After police asked Green why he threw the wallet on the ground, he responded, "That's not my wallet."

Police then asked Green where he had been the last 30 minutes or so, and he said, "In my girl's room." Then said, "At a party," police reports stated.

When police again asked Green why he had dropped the wallet, he asked, "What wallet?" police reports stated.

After police asked Green why the wallet was in his possession, he said, "I don't care, just put the wrap on me. I'll take the blame for this bullshit. Take me to jail," police reports stated.

Police had the student identify Green as the man in his room through a window in his door. Reports did not state whether the student positively identified Green as the man in his room.

Green was arrested on a charge of second degree burglary and booked into Pima County Jail.

Police found the endorsed check in the wallet. The wallet was returned to the student.

A female UA employee reported suspicious writing on tables Tuesday outside of the College of Law, 1201 E. Speedway Blvd.

The employee told university police that some students had reported the writing on the tables about 3 p.m.

The writing on the tables stated, "I was taked away from my house. Karen Grajeda. The man is my daddy."

Police reports stated the writing was in blue ink which was partially smeared.

The employee told police that nobody knows when the writing took place and does not recall any children in the law library. She said the tables were refinished in the summer of 1996.

Police took photographs of the writing and placed them into evidence.

A female UA employee reported a man harassing her daughter Monday in the Administration building, 1401 E. University Blvd.

University police found the man sitting on the north steps of the building about 4:58 p.m.

The man told police he had been inside the building and had seen a woman, the daughter, who he thought he recognized from a previous class.

Police reports stated that as he talked with the daughter, the employee approached and said the woman was her daughter and said he should stop bothering her.

The man told police he would wait on the building's steps and wait for the employee to apologize, or he would "see her in court and make her apologize in front of a judge."

The daughter told police she went to the building to meet her mother when the man began asking her questions.

The employee told police she could see her daughter was becoming frightened so she told the man to stop harassing her. The employee said she took her daughter into an employee's area, and the man began shouting over the partitions, demanding an apology.

Police escorted the employee and her daughter to their car.

Police returned to find the man still sitting on the building's steps. Police told him the women were gone and that he would not be receiving an apology.

Police told the man that he was not to return to the building unless on official business.
