What's Going on. . .

Thursday:

Today marks the day that Muslims all over the world celebrate the end of the yearly hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca. The prayers and the holiday which follows, Eid al-Adha ("festival of the sacrifice"), commemorates the Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Isma'il at God's command. During this holiday, Muslims exchange the greeting of "Eid Mubarak," or "Blessed Eid."

Friday:

Friday, however, commemorates the second anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing and the fire at Waco. Militia members everywhere will pour into Club Congress to catch the multipronged attack of Al Perry, Stefan George, Chris Holiman, Alna Swidler, Sludge Nation, Angel-Headed Hipsters, Lava and others...

Saturday:

This is night of the Tammies Club Crawl (50+ bands on 16 stages for $5), but you knew that already (see the Weekly for details.) Not old enough? Or not interested in consuming large quantities of alcohol with your music? Spill Blanket, Absinthe, Forklift, gatùrot, and Yellow Brick Roadkill are playing the Downtown Library at 101 N. Stone Ave. It's free, all ages, and happenning at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday:

They're still around? Yup, legendary Southern California punks The Vandals return to town for an all-ages show at The Student Union Ballroom. Sam The Butcher and Bueno open, and tickets are $7. For info call 621-8173.
