Allen Arizona Daily Wildcat April 24, 1997 Police BeatA man was warned for disorderly conduct Tuesday after two students reported that they saw him masturbating on the main level of the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.A male student and a female student told university police about 4:30 p.m. that the man was sitting at a computer viewing pornographic material and was possibly masturbating. The female student reported to police that the man's hand was moving and his face was flushed and red-looking when she walked around to help another student. Police reports stated that when police approached the man, they did not see any pornographic material on the computer. Police also did not see the man with his hands down his pants. Police took the man to a vacant area and told him he had been observed with his hand moving rapidly in his pants, police reports stated. The man told police he was just scratching himself. The students told police that they did not see the man expose himself, but they said they knew what he was doing. The man was warned for disorderly conduct and released at the scene.
A male student reported that two men emptied a vending machine's change bucket Tuesday near the Biological Sciences West building, 1041 E. Fifth St. The student told university police he had been sitting on a bench on the north side of the building's vending machines when two black men entered the vending machine area about 7:15 p.m. The student described the men as being in their 20s, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 175 pounds, police reports stated. Both had a slender build, according to police reports. The student said the first man was wearing a knee-length white T-shirt and black jeans. He said the second man was wearing a backpack, a blue baseball hat, a purple sleeveless T-shirt and black pants. The student told police the man in the white T-shirt went to the Coke machine and opened its door. He said the man then walked out of his sight but returned and removed the machine's change bucket. The man in the white shirt then walked out of sight again, the student told police. The student said he then heard change being dumped, and then the man replaced the change bucket and closed the door. The man in the white shirt then walked east out of the area, with the man in the purple shirt following him, police reports stated. The student told police that he thought the man in the white shirt might have left in a red, older, hatchbacked vehicle. Police requested that Vending Services respond to determine if any money was missing from the machine, however, the Vending Services employee refused to respond, police reports stated. Reports could not determine how much money may have been taken from the machine. Attempts to obtain fingerprints from the vending machine were unsuccessful, police reports stated. Reports also stated that none of the vending machines in the area showed any signs of forced entry.
A male student reported damage to his pickup truck Tuesday in Lot 5072 south of Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St. The student told university police that he parked his 1991 Mitsubishi pickup truck Monday about 9 p.m. When he returned to his truck Tuesday about 5 p.m., the rear sliding window was broken. The student told police nothing was missing from the truck. He also told police he always locks his truck but he noticed that his passenger door was unlocked. Police reports stated that the object that broke the window could not be located. The value of the damage is unknown.
A female student reported that her car was involved in a hit-and-run accident Tuesday in Lot 2030, near the intersection of East Mabel Street and North Martin Avenue. The student told university police she parked her 1994 Toyota Tercel in the parking lot about 4:30 a.m. When she returned to her car about 5:45 p.m., she said she noticed a dent in the car's right rear door. Police reports stated the damage appeared to be caused by another car's bumper. Reports stated that no paint was on the door from another vehicle. The value of the damage was unknown.
