Keino shares honor with gold medalist

Arizona junior runner Bob Keino was named co-Outstanding Performer of the Drake Relays, sharing the honor with Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson.

The Drake Relays were held this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa.

Keino ran the anchor leg on both the 4x1600-meter and distance medley relays. His times of 3:59.6 and 4:00.8 helped Arizona win both races. It was Arizona's third-straight victory in the distance medley.

Johnson won a special 200-meter dash in his first outdoor competition this year.

The Drake Relays have not had co-recipients of the award in the past 55 years. A Wildcat had not won since long jumper Gayle Hopkins in 1964.
