Skieresz, Keino earn honors

It was the first time this season that any Wildcat was named athlete of the week for track.

Skieresz won the 10,000-meters at the Penn Relays last Friday in record time. Her mark of 32 minutes, 31.65 seconds shattered both the Arizona and Pac-10 records and was only nine seconds off the national collegiate record. What made it even more impressi ve was the fact that Skieresz was running the 10,000 for the first time in her career.

Keino competed with the rest of the Arizona track team at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and ran the anchor leg on the 4x1600m and distance medley relay teams. Both relay teams won, helping Arizona to its third-straight victory in the distance medl ey.

Keino was named co-outstanding performer of the meet for his efforts, sharing the honors with Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson.
