University Blvd. cafe replaced by Mexican eatery

As the school year comes to a close, so does yet another university-area business.

Cafe Casa Blanca, formerly at 974 E. University Blvd., closed recently and has already been replaced by Leo's, a Mexican food restaurant.

Jose Esquivel, manager of Leo's, said the company also has locations at 5114 E. Speedway Blvd. and in Nogales, Ariz.

He said Victor Nasser, the former owner of Cafe Casa Blanca, who also owns the Fourth Avenue Garden Cafe, 621 N. Fourth Ave., wanted to concentrate his efforts on one restaurant.

"He wanted to move out because he did not have time to run both restaurants," Esquivel said.

Esquivel said Nasser made it known that he was looking for someone to move in two months ago, and Leo's made plans to buy it.

Leo's opened for business yesterday, and Esquivel said that business was good for the first day.

Nasser could not be reached for comment.
