About 3,500 students set to graduate on Saturday

The University of Arizona will host two Spring Commencements Saturday for the 1997 spring graduates.

The ceremony for students in the colleges of Architecture, Humanities, Science, Engineering and Mines, Business and Public Administration, Education and Law will begin at 9 a.m.

The second ceremony begins at 1 p.m. and includes the colleges of Agriculture, Fine Arts, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and the School of Health-Related Professions.

Both ceremonies will begin with a graduation procession that leaves from the east section of the Cherry Avenue garage and proceeds to McKale Center, where the ceremony will begin as soon as the group is seated. The ceremony is scheduled to last about one hour and 30 minutes.

Only faculty members and graduating students in caps and gowns will be allowed in the assembly areas during the formation of the graduation procession.

UA officials said about 2,800 undergraduate students will receive degrees. In addition, about 600 students will receive graduate degrees and 135 will receive doctoral degrees.

Although parking is available in all university lots and garages, parking near McKale Center is limited. Traffic congestion can be limited by parking north of the UA Mall or south of Sixth Street. The UA shuttle service will be in operation from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Disabled parking is available at the corner of North Campbell Avenue and East Enke Drive.
