Police Beat

A male UA employee reported being verbally threatened twice June 4 while working at the Campbell Farm West, 4101 N. Campbell Ave.

The employee told university police he was at the UA farm's east gate near Wilson Avenue about 12:30 p.m. when an orange Volkswagen Scirroco started speeding toward him. The employee stopped his vehicle at the cow gate to let the car pass.

The car slowed down near the employee and the male driver said, "I'm going to whup your ass," police reports stated. While the employee was at the gate, the Scirroco turned around and made a second pass, this time the driver was yelling, "I'm going to kil l you next time I see you."

The employee told police he was working in the same area about 1:30 p.m. when he saw the same car leaving the east entrance of the Rancho Monta¥a Apartments. This time the driver said, "you're a dead man," and drove away.

A witness to the first incident was able to get the license plate number of the vehicle. The witness told police he saw the Volkswagen about 2 p.m. driving past the cow pasture yelling to the construction staff, "you mother fuckers."

Attempts to contact the suspect listed as the owner of the vehicle were unsuccessful, reports stated.

A 44-year-old man was warned a second time Friday for trespassing and suspicious activity after a student reported the man had followed her into an empty classroom at the Franklin Building, 1011 E. Fifth St.

The student told university police she had gone to the building early to study for a test. She told police she saw a man wandering around the building and was uncomfortable by the man's presence because he smelled bad and appeared homeless.

The student told police she went into Room 210, which was empty, to study. Soon after the man came into the classroom and took a seat in the same row she was in, police reports stated.

The student told police she avoided making eye contact with the man but heard a cloth-rubbing sound. She told police she could not see his hands but suspected that the man was masturbating. After five to 10 minutes, the man left.

When police arrived about 12:15 p.m., they recognized a man that had been arrested on trespassing charges on June 4, and he fit the description of the suspect, police reports stated.

Police warned the man he was trespassing and he left campus.

A Marriott University Park Hotel valet was warned for reckless driving Sunday after university police discovered the 20-year-old male racing through the Main Gate Garage, 815 E. Second St., in a guest's rental car.

University police responded to a call at the garage at 5 p.m. after a resident of the apartment complex west of the parking facility reported seeing a person driving recklessly.

While searching the fourth level of the garage, police found tire marks that indicated someone had been accelerating at a high rate of speed.

As police were leaving the fourth level, they reported hearing a car traveling very fast on the third level. Police then saw a tan Pontiac speeding around the corner from the third level, squealing it's tires.

Police stopped the vehicle and approached the driver who identified himself as a valet driver for the Marriott. The valet told police he was taking a car back to the hotel and decided to drive up the garage first.

Police told the valet he was driving recklessly and the valet said it was bad judgement on his part, police reports stated.

Police contacted the hotel manager and advised him of the valet's actions.

A UA employee reported Monday that a vending machine on the southeast corner of the Education building, 1430 E. Second St., was damaged.

When university police arrived about 6 p.m., they discovered the plastic cover of one the machines had been partially pulled off.

Police photographed the damage and took fingerprints from four locations on the machine.

The employee was unsure if anything was stolen and the value of the damage was unknown.

Police have no suspects.
