The Arizona women's soccer team will host San Francisco on Sunday in the home opener at the team's new stadium.

Although at 0-4 the Wildcats are experiencing the worst start in the three-year history of the program, the team is optimistic about Sunday's game.

Arizona (0-4 overall, 0-1 in the Pacific 10 Conference) is looking to Sunday as a fresh start and a time to turn things around.

"Hopefully this will be our turning point," freshman Krisina Quiroz said. "We basically just need a win to hopefully step things up and get things going for us."

Coach Lisa Fraser said Sunday's game with the Dons (3-1) will be a challenge.

"They're strong and they're a very hard working team," Fraser said.

The Dons are led by forward Heather Wright, who has scored three of their seven goals this season.

Fraser said the team has watched last week's game tapes and identified the things it needs to work on for Sunday's game.

"We have to look at our weaknesses and go out and work on those," Fraser said. "Hopefully we'll see some better soccer on Sunday."

"We're trying to find some team chemistry, which will come as the season progresses, I'm sure," said senior goalkeeper Jen Weibel said.

With the new soccer field's proximity to campus, the team is expecting to see more fans at their home games this season - particularly more student support, Weibel said.

"It's going to be really exciting, being the first home game on our new field," Weibel said. "Night games always have that extra feel to them."

Weibel also said, however, that she hopes the team's slow start will not have an effect on the fans.

"We hope that what's in the past isn't going to be a reflection of what Tucson thinks of us," Weibel said.

Sunday's home opener against San Francisco will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Murphey Soccer Stadium, located at 15th Street and Plumer Avenue.
