On this date in 1986, the Wildcats - on their way to a 9-3 season - did something the 1994 version of the Arizona football team probably wishes they could've done - beat Colorado State.

The 1994 Wildcats' loss ended the hopes of a season that started with a No.1 ranking in Sports Illustrated.

In 1986 UA was captained by Byron Evans, who went on to play with the Philidelphia Eagles, and coached by Larry Brown who left the next season to become head coach at Southern Cal. Current Arizona head coach Dick Tomey replaced Brown.

The 37-10 victory over Colorado State was the second in a row and part of a four-game win streak to open the season.

The Wildcats finished the 1986 season with a 30-21 win over North Carolina in the Aloha Bowl. It was UA's second bowl appearance in as many years.
