Arguments presented by the Graduate and Professional Student Council in support of separation:
- GPSC is required to vote on all ASUA expenditures, appointments and legislation. Therefore, graduate members must spend time and effort on evaluating, discussing and voting on matters that do not directly pertain to them.
- The majority of ASUA programs are geared towards undergraduates. To fund GPSC programs, it must do so from its own council budget or force reallocation of funds within ASUA and receive approval of the Undergraduate Senate.
- The GPSC feels that ASUA does not adequately represent their needs of child care, housing and teaching assistant benefits at the state and federal level.
