Perhaps the Eastern seaboard will provide some answers.

The Arizona women's soccer team will be in Providence, R.I., in search of its first win of the season.

The Wildcats (0-5 overall, 0-1 in the Pacific 10 Conference) will battle Brown tonight and Temple Sunday evening.

Arizona lost to San Francisco in its home opener 2-0 last Sunday. UA head coach Lisa Fraser said that, despite the loss, the game was a big confidence booster for the team.

"The difference on Sunday to the last four games was night and day," Fraser said.

More importantly, Fraser said, the freshmen played at a higher level than they have played before.

"They really stepped up last weekend, (which has an) affect on how we compete," Fraser said.

Fraser said her players are still confident and have all taken responsibility for the team's slow start.

"They're not going to let this beat us," she said. "We have a lot going for us and now is the time to get better."

Fraser said Brown and Temple both have solid soccer programs and Brown (0-1) is usually in the top 20 every year.

Sophomore defender Jillian Bressler said the team will use its performance against San Francisco last Sunday for inspiration this weekend.

"(On Sunday) we played as a team," Bressler said. "We got a lot of offense going and our defense was really picked up and is back to where we need it to be. That way we can concentrate on getting the ball up and making some plays."

Bressler said the team concentrated on its offense this week in practice.

"This whole week has been offense," Bressler said. "The past couple of weeks we've been concentrating on defense because we've had some defensive breakdowns. But now our defense is back in synch and that showed on Sunday."

Bressler said the other change the team needs to make this weekend is to get the unit to work together more.

"We're all out there for one reason," Bressler said. "Now we know that if we all work together it will happen."

Arizona will battle the Temple Owls (1-3) in a neutral contest at Brown on Sunday.

"All we know is they know how to play and we just have to come out ready," Bressler said.
