The sinks in a fourth floor bathroom were left stopped up and turned on Saturday in the Education building, 1430 E. University Blvd.

An employee found the sinks of the men's room clogged with paper and turned on at 8:30 a.m. Water ran under the bathroom's door and into the hallway. Carpeting and a classroom ceiling on the second floor of the building were damaged.

The case was forwarded to the Department of Risk Management. The value of the damage was unknown.


A courtyard was flooded Monday in Old Chemistry, 1306 E. University Blvd.

University police arrived at 4:42 a.m. to find all the water faucets in the courtyard running "full blast." The water was 5 inches deep and had run into two classrooms.

There was no report of any damage.


An apparent dog attack Monday brought university police to the Memorial Student Union, 1303 E. University Blvd.

A female student told police she was nearly knocked over by a dog as she entered the Union at 1:15 p.m. She said she had had five past encounters with the dog but the police had not responded to her complaints.

The student pointed out the dog and its owner on the UA Mall. The owner, Judy Rae Beck, of the 100 block of East University Boulevard, and two witnesses said they had not seen the dog, named Serene, bother anyone. A Student Union employee said this was only the second time the dog had bothered the student.

Beck was cited for having an unleashed dog and released at the scene.


A motorist flagged down a university police officer Sunday after she saw a man throw a small recycling bin at a house.

"I'm afraid he's going to hurt someone," the motorist told police.

Police found a man matching the motorist's description, Emile Bursey, 31, of the 500 block of East Ninth Street, walking on East Sixth Street near North Highland Avenue. Bursey was wearing headphones and did not immediately respond to police requests to stop walking.

When Bursey noticed the police, he ran north across Sixth Street, stopping traffic. He was stopped on the north side of the street.

Bursey told police he was an Air Force commander and that the police were harassing him. He said he was going to the liquor store.

Bursey was cited for not yielding to traffic and released at the scene.


A cellular phone was taken from a truck parked in the UA lot at 1030 N. Palm Road.

A male employee parked his green Ford Explorer in the lot at 8 a.m. He returned at 2:50 p.m. to find his driver side window broken and his phone gone.

A small rack found on the driver seat was used to break the window. No other items were missing.

The damage to the window was valued at $100. The Motorola flip phone was also valued at $100.


A bicycle was taken Monday from outside Bio Sciences West, 1040 E. Fifth St.

A male student told university police he secured his bicycle to a rack with a cable lock at 10 a.m. When he returned at 11 a.m. the bicycle and lock were gone.

The Giant Acapulco mountain bicycle was valued at $300 and the lock at $10.


A bicycle was taken Friday from outside the College of Law, 1201 E. Speedway Blvd.

A female student said she locked her bicycle on the west side of the building at 9 a.m. She secured the bicycle with a cable lock. When she returned at 11:25 a.m., the bicycle was gone and her lock was left lying on the ground.

Police reports stated an unknown liquid had been sprayed on the locking device.

The Gary Fischer mountain bicycle was valued at $719 and the lock at $25.


A bicycle was found Monday outside the Center for Creative Photography, 1103 E. Second St.

University police found a bicycle resting upside-down on its seat and handlebars in the doorway of the center at 7:14 a.m.

The AMF bicycle was turned over to Parking and Transportation Services. It was valued at $50.
