A man propositioned a female student Tuesday outside the Anthropology building, 1010 E. University Blvd.

The student was walking near the building at 11 a.m. when a "well dressed man" came out of the building. The student said the man walked "uncomfortably close" to her and said, "I really love to jerk off, do you want to see me jerk off?"

The man then walked north.

The student thought the man "looked like a professor," according to police reports. She said she could identify the man if she saw him again.

A short time later, the same man was reported to have exposed his genitals to a woman at North Park Avenue and East Mabel Street.

That case was turned over to the Tucson Police Department.

Two students were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia Tuesday near Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth Street.

University police responding to a report of a bicycle theft in progress arrived at the hall at 2:22 a.m. At the same time, another police officer stopped three men walking south on North Tyndall Avenue.

Police found a plastic baggie containing 1.7 grams of a "green, leafy substance" in the bicycle racks east of the hall, then met up with the other officer, who had detained the three men.

The men denied any knowledge of the baggie.

Police asked two of the men, Coronado residents, Matthew A. Verbin and Howard M. Seaman, both 18, to empty their pockets.

Verbin had a blue marijuana pipe in his pocket, according to police reports. He said the pipe belonged to another man and that he was simply returning it. He told police he had never smoked marijuana.

Seaman had a white marijuana smoking pipe in his pocket, according to police reports.

Both pipes contained residue, police reports stated.

Seaman said he had smoked marijuana, but had not that night. Police asked Seaman if he had any marijuana and he said "I did, but I don't know where it is." He said the substance in the baggie was not his.

Police asked Seaman if he had any false identification and he showed them a California Driver license with Seaman's picture and the name Howard Gordon. Seaman said he had bought the license for $80.

Seaman was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a fictitious license. Verbin was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released at the scene.

There was no further mention of the third man in police reports.

Several soft drinks were stolen Tuesday from a vending outside the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

University police received a call at 7:57 p.m. stating three males were taking drinks from an open vending machine northeast of the library.

Police arrived and found an open Pepsi machine. Several All Sport drinks appeared to have been removed.

The machine's other compartments appeared untouched.

UA Vending locked the machine but was unable to determine how many drinks were taken.

Four batteries were taken Monday night from outside a UA warehouse at 1145 S. Warren Ave.

The batteries, kept in a large truck locked in a gated parking lot west of the warehouse, were last seen Monday at 5 p.m. An employee noticed the batteries missing Tuesday at 8 a.m.

There was no damage to the truck and no sign of forced entry into the lot.

The six volt batteries had a total value of $240.

A man called the front desk of Maricopa Residence Hall, 1031 E. North Campus Drive, twice Tuesday taking a survey.

The caller, who identified himself as Ray Walker, said he was taking a "boxing survey." He called twice between 8:40 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

The hall's desk received similar calls Sept. 3.

The desk clerk told university police she was willing to prosecute the man for "annoying phone calls."
