Today:
- The Joseph Gross Gallery holds an opening reception for "Picture This Too," a photographic show by William Wegman and a select group of Arizona photographers. The group includes Judith Golden, Joseph Labate and Cy Lehrer. The opening is today from 5 to 7 p.m. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- "The Birdcage" plays at Gallagher Theatre tonight at 7:30 and 9:50. Admission is $2.50. Tomorrow through Wednesday, "The Truth About Cats and Dogs" will play at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.
- Student Programs is holding a Student Organizations Involvement Festival on the UA Mall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The festival will give students the opportunity to meet representatives from many of the 300 student organizations on campus.
- The New-Traditional Students Welcome is in the Memorial Student Union, Room 353, today from 8 to 11 a.m. Students 25 and older are welcome to attend.
Park Student Union, on Park Avenue between Kaibab-Huachuca and Arizona-Sonora residence halls, holds an Open House today. Much of the building, including the entire upper level, has been recently renovated, and all areas of the Union will be open for business and display.
- The University Activities Board Block Party is on the Arizona-Sonora Volleyball Courts today from 4 to 11 p.m. The block party is open to the public and is sponsored by KAMP Student Radio. Representatives from many student groups will be at the party with information about their organizations.
- Arizona Historical Society presents "ARIZONA-SONORA: Documents of a Shared History." The exhibit includes photographs, maps, census lists, passports, and other records documenting people's historical travel from southern Arizona to Sonora between 1914 and 1920. The opening reception is today at 6 p.m. at the Arizona Historical Society Museum, 949 E. Second St. The show will be open to the public Sunday. Admission is free.
SUNDAY:
- The Arizona Historical Society presents La Fiesta de San Agustin, a cultural celebration including Native American music, Mexican rope tricks, Western storytelling, and ethnic dance performances. The Fiesta, which began as a religious ceremony in the late 18th century, was originally in honor of St. Augustine, Tucson's patron saint. Event takes place Sunday, from 1 to 11 p.m., in front of the Arizona Historical Society Museum. Admission is free. Call 628-5774 for more details.
