University police cited two juveniles Thursday for possession of marijuana.

The two 15-year-old Tucson boys were sitting in front of a residence at North Tyndall Avenue and East Seventh Street about 8:30 a.m. when police approached them and asked them what they were doing.

The boys told police they did not have class until 9 a.m. The boys smelled of burned marijuana, police reports stated.

In one of the boys' pockets, police found a pack of Marlboro cigarettes and a "multi-colored smoking device with a partially-burned green leafy substance in it." In the boy's backpack, a Clear Machine cigarette rolling machine was found.

A bag holding a "green, leafy substance" was found on the other boy, as well as a knife that smelled like marijuana. A pack of cigarettes was also found in the boy's backpack.

The first boy denied smoking marijuana, but the second told police that he and his friend had been smoking.

The boys were cited for possession of marijuana, possession of cigarettes and possession of drug paraphernalia. The second boy was released to his mother. The first boy's mother could not pick him up. He was taken to the Pima County Juvenile Court Center.


University police arrested a man Thursday who was allegedly violating a court order of protection.

According to police reports, Louis H. Schmid, 54, of the 3000 block of North Tyndall Avenue, was restricted from going to his wife's place of work at the Main Gate building, 888 N. Euclid Ave.

An unidentified person recognized Schmid and called university police at 12:05 p.m. His wife was not in the building.

The emergency order had been issued that morning.

Schmid told police he had come by to buy his wife lunch.

Schmid was arrested on a charge of interfering with a judicial proceeding and booked into Pima County Jail.


A television was found Thursday in front of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house, 1435 E. Second St.

A community service officer found the television at 7:11 a.m. The officer went into the house and asked if anyone had lost a television, but no one had. A note was posted in the sorority.

The Magnovox Perfectview television was taken to the university police station.


Four bicycles were reported stolen Thursday.

A female student told police she used a U-lock to secure her bicycle at 9 a.m. to a rack north of the Music building, 1017 N. Olive Road. She returned at 10 a.m. to discover the bicycle gone, but the U-lock secured, undamaged to the rack. The Bianchi hybrid bicycle was valued at $250.

A male student secured his bicycle at 9:30 a.m. to a rack on the north side of the Center for Creative Photography, 1030 N. Olive Road. The student returned at 1:45 p.m. to discover it missing. The green Cannondale M-200 bicycle was valued at $417.28

A female student secured her bicycle at 7:15 a.m. to a rack east of the Memorial Student Union, 1303 E. University Blvd. She secured the bike with a padlock and a 7-foot cable.

The student returned to the rack at noon, but her bicycle and lock were gone. The blue Trek mountain bicycle was valued at $660.93 and the lock and cable at $40.

Another male student used a U-lock to secure his bicycle at 12:30 a.m. to a rack outside Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St. The student discovered the bicycle and lock missing at noon.

The Yukov Giant bicycle was valued at $500 and the lock at $40.


A change purse was taken Wednesday from the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, 1322 E. First Ave.

A female employee left her office at 3:30 p.m. with the purse on her desk. She returned at 4 p.m. to discover the purse missing.

The employee said she had seen a suspicious woman in the building that day.The same woman asked another employee where the restroom was twice that day, police reports stated.

The red purse with white and yellow flowers contained an unknown amount of change and was valued at $10.
