- The Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "Phenomenon" at 7:30. Admission is $2.50. A free sneak preview to "The Chamber" is showing at 9:45 p.m.
- The Undergraduate Society of Criminal Justice Studies presents the Pima County Medical Examiner to discuss crime scenes, death investigations and other details related to the profession including a slide presentation in the Berger Auditorium of McClelland Hall at 7 p.m.
- Baptist Student Union and Muslim Students Association is holding a debate between the two groups on the topic of "Morals and Values" in the Islamic Center at 901 E. First St. at 7 p.m. After the two groups speak, refreshments will be served and the discussion will be opened to the floor.
- The Women's Studies Colloquium Series presents Paula England of the Sociology Department to speak on current issues within women's studies from noon until 2 p.m. in Modern Languages, Room 312.
- The Steward Observatory is presenting Christopher Impey, associate astronomer, speaking on "Checking Up on the Big Bang" at the Steward Observatory Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. The hour-long lecture includes time for questions and, on good viewing nights, the public is invited to view the sky though the observatory's telescopes after the lecture.
- The UA Poetry Center presents Luis Alberto Urrea, poet, essayist and fiction writer to read at 8 p.m. in the Modern Languages Auditorium. He is the author of "The Fever of Being" and two books of prose, "Across the Wire" and "In Search of Snow."
- Career Services is hosting Business, Liberal Arts and Retail Day, during which employers' in those fields will be on campus recruiting students in the Memorial Student Union Rincon Room from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
- "Writing the Southwest," one of a series of roundtables about reading, writing and researching, presented by and for students, is meeting in the Modern Language Building, Room 311 from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
- The Office of International Affairs presents Andy Onate, staff director of the Board of Examiners at the State Department, to speak on "State Department Careers and the Foreign Service Exam," at the Slonaker House in the conference room from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
