- The University Activities Board, which provides entertainment and activities for students on campus, is sponsoring "Eat to the Beat" in the Cellar of the Memorial Student Union.
"Eat to the Beat" showcases local bands Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., while providing students with the opportunity to listen to live music during their lunch hour. Today's performer is Annie Rapid.
"Primarily we bring in local bands to perform but we are also book a variety of culturally based musicians and out of state bands as well," said Rachel Ramirez, entertainment director for UAAB.
- The UA Associated Students Bookstore will be removing all fall 1996 textbooks from the shelves today.
Sandra Helms, associate buyer at the UA Bookstore, said students who have delayed in buying textbooks for the fall school year need to know that after today they will to sent back to the publishers.
The textbook inventory represents a significant financial investment, which must be reinvested for the following semester's requirements, said bookstore officials.
For faculty members, all books that have not been readopted for the spring 1997 semester will be sent back to the publisher as well.
- The Center for Computing and Information Technology is offering a free workshop, "The Internet: Beyond the Basics," from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Main Library, Room A315.
The workshop will offer instruction in how to use the Netscape Navigator software. Searching techniques, File Transfer Protocol, bookmarks and saving, printing and downloading information will be discussed.
The workshop is designed for persons who have attended the "Introduction to the Internet" workshop.
- The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "The Rock" at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Admission is $2.50.
